Riverside police say Jennifer Renee Lewis, 46, was arrested Sept. 15 on allegations she used her late grandmother’s death certificate to add herself to an unrelated 76-year-old woman’s roughly $1 million home title, then put it in escrow to sell for $625,000.
Lewis was serving as administrator of her grandmother’s estate, and police say her grandmother shared a name with the homeowner. Investigators say they learned of the title filing June 18, when the property was being marketed without the owner’s permission. Police also accused Lewis of trying to access the homeowner’s retirement funds and said she admitted taking mail from the residence.
Patch, citing court records, reported that Lewis pleaded not guilty at her Sept. 18 arraignment. Police said the arrest allegations included filing a false document with a government office, elder abuse and grand theft; Lewis has not been convicted.
