Almonty says certificates issued Sept. 17 cleared Sangdong’s South Korean plant for commercial operation and tungsten concentrate sales. Management says ore has run through it since June 2026; shipments and customer payments will test Sangdong’s cash generation.
More than 90% of planned Phase I production is covered by a purchase agreement with Global Tungsten & Powders LLC. Amended in July 2026, the agreement runs for 21 years from first delivery, but does not guarantee a profit.
The announcement did not disclose actual commercial production rates, realized operating costs or cash collected from concentrate sales. Certification alone does not show whether the plant can sustain planned output or earn attractive margins, which depend on selling prices and production costs.
