The Pittsburgh Penguins named 23 players for Thursday’s preseason game against the Columbus Blue Jackets: 14 forwards, seven defensemen and two goalies. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. ET at Nationwide Arena, with radio coverage on 105.9 The X.
Forwards: Rutger McGroarty, Filip Hallander, David Gustafsson, Connor Dewar, Bill Zonnon, Elmer Soderblom, Tristan Broz, Liam Ruck, Tanner Howe, Ville Koivunen, Mikhail Ilyin, Markus Ruck, Atley Calvert and Avery Hayes. Defensemen: Jake Livanavage, Ilya Solovyov, Ryan Graves, Owen Pickering, Chase Pietila, Harrison Brunicke and Caleb Jones. Goalies: Sergei Murashov and Collin Delia.
The Penguins’ final preseason game is Saturday in Buffalo. A rule limits NHL veterans with 100 or more games to at most two preseason appearances, and most of the team’s major players are presumably being held for Saturday. Dewar and Soderblom would miss the finale if they play Thursday. Pittsburgh had not announced its starting goalie. Koivunen, who missed his planned preseason debut with an injury, is listed again.
