Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian told the UN on Wednesday that Iran would not bow to US pressure, accusing Washington of “terrorism” for assassinating former supreme leader Ali Khamenei and saying Tehran had not started the war.
The day before, US President Donald Trump told the General Assembly he was weighing whether to “annihilate” Iran, but also praised renewed talks between Tehran and Washington. Pezeshkian did not mention the negotiations.
Pezeshkian also said Tehran would not allow the Strait of Hormuz to be used as leverage against Iran. The article reports that Iran has choked off the waterway since the war began, pushing global energy prices higher.
