Peter Thiel said Trump’s second administration overcorrected for infighting in his first term by using loyalty tests, resulting in officials he called “not very smart” but loyal. He said the approach could hurt Republicans’ chances in future elections.
Asked on MD Meets whether he regretted supporting Trump in 2016, Thiel said it was too early to judge the president’s record and suggested revisiting the question in about 10 years.
Thiel also said he fears exhaustion with the Republican establishment could push voters toward Democratic Socialists. He warned that if Democratic Socialists took over the Democratic Party, it would be a much bigger development, calling it “the end of America” and saying that kind of disruption seemed catastrophic.
