Eden Project Morecambe has received £2.5m from the Pears Foundation to help fund its Habitations zone, which will feature four immersive spaces promoting more sustainable ways of living. The Lancashire attraction is expected to open in 2028.
The zone, described as the project’s signature experience, will include four theatrical spaces: High Street, Market, Farm and Town Square. Activities are intended to show how local adaptation and worldwide innovation could shape more sustainable daily life.
Eden Project Morecambe says the development’s build phase is now funded through government investment, charitable donations and loans; fundraising will refocus on horticultural landscapes, exhibitions, learning spaces and visitor experiences. The attraction is expected to draw hundreds of thousands of visitors a year and support more than 1,000 jobs. Groundworks for a community garden are due to begin soon.
