The Surrey and Sussex Cancer Alliance urges 18- to 25-year-olds who missed HPV jabs at school to get vaccinated and help prevent HPV-related cancers. Two-thirds of eligible children in the counties are vaccinated, but uptake remains below pre-pandemic levels.
The alliance said vaccinations at GP clinics serving universities in the region rose 117% during its 2025 campaign compared with 2024. Posters and flyers were sent to four universities in Sussex and Surrey.
The NHS says it wants to eradicate HPV by 2040. Research released earlier this year found children vaccinated against HPV at age 12–13 have close to zero risk of dying from cervical cancer before age 30.
