The restored Tea Pavilion at Macduff’s outdoor pool, Paisley Central Library and Edinburgh Futures Institute are shortlisted for the Andrew Doolan Best Building in Scotland Award. The winner will be announced in late November after judges visit each site.
The shortlist was drawn from 10 winners of the annual RIAS awards earlier this year. Judges said the projects demonstrate imaginative reuse and restoration of historic buildings; all three are open to the public.
Studio Octopi restored the Tea Pavilion at Tarlair Outdoor Pool as part of a wider programme to return the pools fully to use. Collective Architecture upgraded Paisley Central Library for Renfrewshire Council; Bennetts Associates repaired and remodelled a Category A-listed Victorian hospital for Edinburgh Futures Institute, adding a 450-seat auditorium, teaching and social spaces, and a public square.
