An explosion near Aman Mela in the Darazinda area of Dera Ismail Khan, northwestern Pakistan, killed 11 people and injured 30 on Saturday, emergency service Rescue 1122 said. The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan claimed responsibility for the attack.
Rescue 1122 said teams from its Darazinda station reached the scene, provided medical assistance to the wounded and took them to hospital.
Dera Ismail Khan is in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa near Pakistan’s border regions with Afghanistan. The district has repeatedly faced Islamist militant violence, often targeting police and security forces; security incidents continued there this month, including attacks involving the Pakistani Taliban.
