Cleveland clinched the AL Central and a first-round bye, while the White Sox fell to the AL’s No. 6 seed and will visit the AL West champion. Houston and Texas are tied at 80-81; if they remain tied after Sunday, Houston holds the tiebreaker and wins the division.
The NL’s final wild-card berth is still undecided. Philadelphia is 87-74 and Arizona 86-75; if both finish 87-75, Arizona advances on the intradivision-record tiebreaker after the teams split their season series. A Phillies win Sunday secures Philadelphia’s berth. The qualifier will travel to Atlanta for a best-of-three series beginning Tuesday.
