Kevin O’Leary says Bitcoin could hit $1 million only if it addresses fears that quantum computers may break its encryption. He says he is buying new positions for the next cycle and expects Bitcoin to make up 1% to 3% of alternative-asset allocations.
Researchers at Google said in a 2026 white paper that future quantum computers may break elliptic-curve cryptography with fewer qubits and gates than previously realized. They urged widespread adoption of post-quantum cryptography by 2029.
O’Leary says practical adoption would make him invest more; he is waiting for a major stock exchange to connect with a blockchain. He argues crypto or digitization could become the S&P’s “12th sector,” serving all 11 existing sectors.
