No. 21 Florida pulled away from No. 4 Ole Miss for a 52-28 win, scoring touchdowns on five straight possessions after the Rebels cut the lead to 17-14 early in the second half. The Gators ran for 291 yards and six TDs, while Aaron Philo threw for 196 yards and a score.
Ole Miss played without leading running back Kewan Lacy, who missed the game with a left shoulder injury suffered in the Rebels’ Week 3 win over LSU. Ole Miss failed to convert a third down in the first half, and JT Lindsey’s first-drive fumble helped Florida build a 10-0 lead.
Florida coach Jon Sumrall told ESPN the Gators were “still not a finished product.” Picked ninth in the SEC preseason media poll, Florida next visits No. 19 Missouri in Week 5, then faces South Carolina, travels to No. 1 Texas and plays No. 2 Georgia in Atlanta on Halloween.
