Robert’s Lafitte was not open when Friday’s fire broke out, and its current status is unclear; recent posts in Galveston Facebook groups asked whether it had reopened after the July fire. The July 8 blaze began in an upstairs apartment, damaged the bar’s electrical system and left it without power, but caused no structural damage. The venue had been set to reopen.
A May benefit raised more than $22,000 for repairs, but the funds eventually ran out after covering some work, including internal repairs and updated permits. A new venue, Lafitte By Tiffany, is aiming to keep Robert’s Lafitte’s spirit alive.
