Nick Chubb signed a one-day contract with the Cleveland Browns on Friday to retire from the NFL as a Brown. He finished 100 career games with 7,349 rushing yards and 54 touchdowns; Cleveland will honor him at Sunday's home opener against Carolina.
In seven Browns seasons, Chubb had four straight 1,000-yard rushing seasons and a career-best 1,525 yards in 2022. He made four Pro Bowls and set Cleveland's record for longest rushing touchdown with a 92-yard run. His 6,843 Browns rushing yards and 51 rushing touchdowns each rank third in franchise history; his 30 100-yard rushing games rank second.
A knee injury in Week 2 of 2023 preceded Chubb's return for eight Browns games in 2024; he then played 15 games for the Houston Texans in 2025. Chubb said retiring as a Brown was an easy decision and called Cleveland a second home.
