Newcastle United are considering triggering the €60 million (£51.4 million) release clause for Real Sociedad midfielder Luka Sucic, Sport Witness reports, citing AS. The report says no final decision or agreement with the 24-year-old has been established.
AS reportedly says Newcastle is prepared to pay the full clause, but the clubs could also discuss a lower fee or a different payment structure. Real Sociedad manager Pellegrino Matarazzo is said to oppose a sale below the clause; if Newcastle activates it and agrees personal terms with Sucic, Sociedad could not block the transfer.
Sucic worked under Matthias Jaissle at Red Bull Salzburg from 2021 to 2023 before joining Real Sociedad for around €10 million in 2024. He has scored twice in six appearances this season, including a late winner against Elche and a goal against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.
