Nevada officials told The New York Times that all 185 people DHS identified as noncitizens were U.S. citizens. In a letter to DHS, Nevada Deputy Attorney General Greg D. Ott said the department had provided “nothing of substance” to suggest otherwise.
DHS told Nevada it had reviewed some of nearly 16,000 names and confirmed 185 were not U.S. citizens, according to the report. Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said in July that 15,903 people in Nevada alone were noncitizens registered to vote. Mullin and President Donald Trump have also claimed the administration identified 250,000 noncitizens on voter rolls in Nevada, California, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
