Teachers at four Lincolnshire schools have suspended strike action after Horncastle Education Trust agreed to recognise trade unions, the National Education Union (NEU) said. The NEU plans a further member ballot in October on resolving the dispute.
The NEU said the action stemmed from the trust not agreeing to recognise unions. NEU staff have taken seven strike days since May, and members of the NASUWT union have also staged walkouts.
Trust chief executive Sandra James welcomed progress in discussions with the NEU and NASUWT and said the trust would keep working with the unions to fulfil agreements reached. The NEU said it hoped negotiations would improve staff working conditions and, in turn, pupils’ learning conditions.
