The Israeli-American Council staged a protest outside the New York Film Festival premiere of “NAZA” at Lincoln Center. More than 50 demonstrators projected graphic October 7 footage and portraits of those killed; the council said the film omits the attack’s context.
The IAC has called “NAZA” anti-Israel, arguing that it makes serious allegations about Israeli military conduct in Gaza while omitting information that challenges them. Chief communities officer Noa Peri-Jensch said the protest was not meant to prevent the screening. Rom El-Hai, a survivor of the Nova festival attack, also addressed the crowd.
“NAZA” recently won a special jury prize at the Venice Film Festival. It is set for release in more than 50 territories before becoming available to stream for free on The Guardian’s website.
