The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Philadelphia Phillies 5-1 to reach 100 wins for the first time in franchise history. The victory cut their magic number to one for the National League’s top seed; a Dodgers loss would clinch it.
The Brewers broke a 1-1 tie with a late three-run rally, as Jake Bauers, Cooper Pratt and Joey Ortiz drove in runs; Jackson Chourio’s 25th homer added the final run. Milwaukee opens its final homestand of the season against St. Louis tomorrow night, beginning a three-game series.
Adam McCalvy reported that the Brewers were the first MLB team to win 100 games without a winning streak longer than five games. They had three separate five-game streaks and never won six straight.
