Victoria Zardoya, 20, died July 26 in what a friend who was with her described on social media as an accident while exploring the ruins at Fort Dade on Florida's Egmont Key; the friend said she suffered fatal injuries in a fall. DeSantis asked for compassion and privacy, saying Giudice hopes that, in time, being open about her experiences may help other young people facing struggles.
Giudice was arrested May 14 in connection with a domestic violence incident in New Jersey and pleaded not guilty in July in the assault case. Her attorney said in court in August that she was going to complete an anger-management class, Page Six reported; her next virtual hearing is scheduled for Sept. 29.
