Gabrielle Henry sued the Miss Universe Organization and related companies, alleging negligence caused her stage fall and traumatic brain injury. Her lawyer, Joseph Ciaccio, calls the organization’s claim it has not received her suit a “typical” response.
Henry filed the suit Sept. 21 against the organization, its parent JKN Legacy Inc. and joint owner Legacy Holding Group USA Inc. The organization says the host and production entities, Miss Grand International and Miss Universe Thailand, were responsible for the Thailand competition’s venue, stage and on-site safety. Henry’s suit alleges Miss Universe was responsible because it hired and employed them.
The organization says it paid Henry’s hospital expenses and covered care at a specialized hospital in Jamaica after she returned home, and that it has received no request for further medical costs. Ciaccio says it has not fulfilled its promise to pay all treatment-related costs, despite its Dec. 8, 2025 statement that it had paid them and would continue to do so.
