Microsoft unveiled 12-inch Surface Pro and 13-inch Surface Laptop powered by Snapdragon X2 Plus; both go on sale Oct. 13, starting at $1,149.99 and $1,199, respectively. Microsoft claims up to 17% faster Office performance and 18% better battery efficiency.
Compared with first-generation models, Microsoft also claims more than 60% faster graphics and up to 95% faster local AI inferencing on the NPU. The company says it worked with Qualcomm to tune the chips for sustained performance and quiet thermals. Both devices retain fanless, lightweight designs, and supported AI experiences can run locally, in the cloud or through a mix of both.
The 13-inch Laptop’s touchscreen is 25% brighter at 500 nits and rated for up to 22.5 hours of local video playback; Black is a new color. The Pro adds Microsoft Ink Canvas, a preinstalled pen-focused AI app for sketching, annotating, summarizing text and generating images; it will also reach supported Surface and Windows devices Oct. 13. Commercial buyers can opt for a 5G Pro configuration. The $79.99 Surface Mouse adds click haptics, Bluetooth 6.0 and a customizable Copilot button. CGMagazine disclosed that Qualcomm paid its travel and lodging for summit coverage, without promising coverage in return.
