Michigan must address 32 penalties after last-second loss to Iowa

SB Nation

Michigan’s final-seconds loss to Iowa followed costly penalties and missed chances, ending its bid for a 4-0 start. The Wolverines had 32 penalties in four games, the program’s second-highest total through four games since at least 2000. They visit Minnesota Saturday.

Defensive back Zeke Berry’s penalty extended Iowa’s final possession, and Iowa won as time expired. Michigan also had three late chances for a game-sealing interception, but all were dropped or mishandled. Coach Kyle Whittingham said the team had been penalized too much and needed to keep working to clean it up.
