Melania Trump’s office approved CNN and Politico press credentials for her Tuesday UN event, despite President Donald Trump’s White House ban on CNN, MS NOW and Politico. Her coalition promotes children’s well-being through education and technology.
CNN’s credential was approved Sunday, a day after the president’s ban took effect. CNN, MS NOW and Politico have filed a First Amendment lawsuit seeking to restore their access; a hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
At the luncheon, Melania Trump took a more cautious line on AI than her husband, who had downplayed calls for global AI regulations in a nearby UN speech. She announced partnerships with Amazon, Intel and Google and urged counterparts to teach children to use technology wisely. Her coalition has 57 participating countries, with events planned at the G20 summit in Miami and ASEAN conference in the Philippines, as well as regional meetings in Europe and the Caribbean.
