Mehul Choksi has abandoned his High Court damages claim over his alleged 2021 abduction from Antigua to Dominica after failing to pay £677,000 in security for the defendants’ legal costs. His allegations have not been determined.
A judge ordered £425,000 in security for Gurdip Bath and Leslie Farrow-Guy, and £252,000 for Gurmit Singh and Gurjit Singh Bhandal. After Choksi did not pay, his case against them was struck out in July. His solicitors filed in August to discontinue the remaining case against the Indian government and Barbara Jarabik, according to The Sunday Guardian.
Choksi alleged that the Indian government and five people conspired to take him from Antigua to Dominica against his will, hoping to extradite him to India. The five named individuals deny wrongdoing. Choksi is accused of involvement in a £1.3bn bank fraud linked to his nephew Nirav Modi; both deny wrongdoing.
