Eric Clark, Earnest Lloyd Jr and Jarques Ratliff have been charged with murder in Tasia Fortune’s death; Clark surrendered Friday as the third person arrested. Jackson police said an autopsy investigation concluded the scene and hanging were staged.
Fortune, 29 and a mother of four, was found hanging on 3 August from a tree behind a vacant home in western Jackson. Investigators said she was not killed there and had been dead for two to three days before her body was discovered.
WLBT reported an alleged physical altercation between Lloyd and Fortune shortly before her death and said police accused Lloyd of using a black cable cord to hang her. Lloyd and Ratliff have reportedly pleaded not guilty and were denied bond. Fortune's mother has said she was certain her daughter would not have killed herself.
