Shane McClanahan will not pitch for the Tampa Bay Rays in the American League Division Series (ALDS) because of left forearm tightness, Marc Topkin reported, citing Cash; a return in later rounds has not been ruled out. Tampa Bay won its first AL East title since 2021.
Drew Rasmussen is likely to start Game 1, followed by Nick Martinez and Freddy Peralta. Griffin Jax and Ian Seymour are options for a potential Game 4 or later rounds. Garrett Cleavinger and Tyler Wells, both dealing with forearm tightness, are progressing and could be ALDS options, Topkin reported.
McClanahan made 24 starts this season, posting a 3.36 ERA and a career-low 21.8% strikeout rate. He missed all of 2024 after Tommy John surgery; a triceps nerve issue during spring then kept him out for the following year.
