Mayor James Harling said Ridge Spring Police Chief Terry Logan was behind a department Facebook account that allegedly threatened resident Christian McClellan with a warrant and U.S. Marshals after his profane criticism of Flock cameras. The screenshots are unauthenticated.
McClellan told WRDW/WAGT he posted the profane comment on a department post about Flock cameras being cut down across town; about a week later, screenshots he supplied reportedly showed the account saying it would seek a warrant for “unlawful communications” and send Marshals to pick him up. The screenshots were not independently authenticated, account ownership was not confirmed, and available reporting shows no warrant, arrest record or Marshals action.
South Carolina law prohibits certain profane electronic communications, coercive or harassing electronic threats, and repeated harassment; violations are misdemeanors carrying a $100–$500 fine or up to 30 days in jail. ACLU of South Carolina attorney Allen Chaney told WRDW/WAGT that state Supreme Court decisions narrowed the law and, in his view, a single critical comment to a government agency would not fall under it. That is an advocacy interpretation, not a court ruling on McClellan’s case.
