Mark Fletcher Jr. may miss Saturday's Central Michigan game after being left off Miami's Week 4 captains list, though he has not been ruled out. He suffered a minor upper-body injury last Friday; his availability may remain uncertain until the 6:30 p.m. ET kickoff.
Redshirt junior CharMar “Marty” Brown is out for the season with a severe right-knee injury. If Fletcher is unavailable, freshman Javian Mallory appears to be the top starting option; he has rushed for 196 yards on 20 carries and scored twice in three games. Sophomore Girard Pringle Jr. could also get more snaps after totaling 302 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 48 carries over the final four regular-season games last year.
Jordan Lyle appears ready to return this weekend after a legal case involving an allegation of fleeing police and a private team suspension. He was limited to six games last season, primarily because of injuries, and had a 91-yard run against South Florida.
