Manor Farm has applied to turn farmland at Thornhaugh, near Wittering and Peterborough, into a four-pod glamping site. Peterborough City Council has yet to consider the plans; the farm says the project would diversify its income and promote tourism.
The proposal includes hot tubs, decking and five parking spaces, with two part-time staff to service the pods. It also includes new hedgerows, wildflower meadows, and bird and bat boxes; the pods would be spread across the site to preserve openness.
Manor Farm says its existing holiday cottages have performed well and demonstrated demand for rural visitor accommodation. Its planning statement describes the glamping proposal as a continuation of that diversification.
