Cincinnati police shot and killed a man at the Talbert House homeless shelter in University Heights on Sept. 25 after receiving an active-shooter call around 7:45 p.m. Officers exchanged two rounds with him; the interim chief said no other victims appeared to be inside.
Interim Police Chief Adam Hennie, City Manager Cheryl Long and Mayor Aftab Pureval were scheduled to give remarks at 5 p.m. about the shooting. Police said no officers were injured, and the man's relationship with Talbert House was unknown to police that night.
It was the sixth fatal shooting by Cincinnati police in five years. The most recent was the fatal shooting in August of a 23-year-old man in Green Township after an abduction pursuit.
