Bill Maher and Roseanne Barr agreed in a Sept. 25 podcast that the far left had become “insane,” then clashed over the Democratic Party. Maher said Republicans who reject lost elections are undemocratic, noting Donald Trump still has not conceded the 2020 election.
Maher said he had not changed politically; in his view, the Democratic Party had moved toward socialism, while he had always supported capitalism. He described the party as full of socialists who were “really communists.” Barr said Maher’s views were becoming more like hers, a characterization he rejected.
The dispute intensified when Barr asked whether the party could be fixed and referred to it as the “Democrat Party.” Maher objected that the wording was a pointless slur and insisted it was the “Democratic Party.” Barr said she avoided “Democratic” because she considered the party undemocratic, comparing it to a corporation.
