Maggie Baird led a Climate Week NYC discussion on artists’ climate action, while her nonprofit Support+Feed and Global Citizen organized a citywide drive for nonperishable plant-based food, hoping to feed 1.6 million New Yorkers facing food insecurity.
Founded by Baird and her daughter in 2020, Support+Feed has assisted 41 global cities and delivered over 2.7 million plant-based meals in 2026. Baird argues food systems deserve more attention in climate discussions and advocates minimizing animal-agriculture consumption. A 2025 Nature Climate Change study reported that beef, chicken and pork consumption in more than 3,000 U.S. cities generates 329 megatons of CO2 equivalent emissions annually.
Baird is also hosting Climate Kitchen, a show combining plant-based cooking, climate storytelling and practical sustainability tips. It will premiere on public media in 2027, with guests including Billie Eilish and Finneas, Claudia Sulewski, Dan Buettner and Martha Stewart.
