Loik Le Priol was sentenced to 26 years in prison for murdering former Argentina rugby international Federico Aramburu in Paris in 2022. Associate Romain Bouvier was convicted of attempted murder and given 19 years; both have 10 days to appeal.
Aramburu was having a late drink with friend and fellow former rugby player Shaun Hegarty at the Mabillon cafe on March 19, 2022, when an altercation between the two groups escalated into a fight. After security staff intervened, the confrontation spilled onto Boulevard Saint-Germain, where Bouvier fired at Aramburu before Le Priol opened fire.
Le Priol and Bouvier were former members of the now-banned GUD group and were already serving prison sentences for aggravated assault in a separate case. Lyson Rochemir, Le Priol's then-girlfriend, was found guilty of lesser charges, including obstructing the course of justice.
