Jamey Chadwell’s Liberty beat Coastal Carolina 34-17, outscoring his former team 24-0 in the second half to overcome a 17-10 halftime deficit. Kam Davis rushed for a career-high 166 yards, while Makai Jackson had 149 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Liberty defensive end Ethan Crisp suffered a serious injury on a first-quarter kickoff return. After a lengthy stoppage, he was carted off and taken to a nearby hospital; Chadwell told the radio broadcast Crisp had movement in all extremities.
Coastal Carolina quarterback Deuce Bailey threw his first career interception on the opening drive, and the Chanticleers were flagged 15 times for 117 yards. Liberty recorded four sacks after halftime; five of Coastal Carolina’s six second-half possessions produced fewer than three total yards.
