Julian Reese has signed a two-way contract with the New Orleans Pelicans, his agents told Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. Denver waived him from a two-way deal in August; the Pelicans’ signing fills their final two-way roster spot before training camp.
In 13 games with Washington late last season, Reese averaged 11.8 points, 10.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.4 steals in 30.9 minutes per game, shooting 52.9% from the field. In his third NBA appearance, he had 18 points and 20 rebounds against Utah, becoming Washington’s first rookie to reach 20 rebounds in a game since Tom Gugliotta in 1993.
Under the two-way arrangement, Reese can appear in up to 50 NBA games while developing with the Pelicans’ G League affiliate, the Laketown Squadron. He will also reunite with former Maryland teammate Derik Queen.
