Six-year-old Lian Yunzhi of Chengdu, China, broke the women’s 3x3 cube average record twice in three days, with 4.52- and 4.27-second results at two WCA-certified competitions; the latter made her the only female player to average below 4.5 seconds.
Yunzhi, nicknamed “Zhizhi,” has mastered more than 1,300 solving algorithms and practices two to three hours a day. Her mother, Lin Yangxi, said she encouraged her daughter’s interest, viewing cubing as an activity that could foster a child’s abilities.
For comparison, Guinness World Records lists a 2.76-second single solve by Teodor Zajder in Gdansk on Feb. 8, 2026, and a 3.51-second average of five solves by Yiheng Wang in Hefei on June 17, 2026, as the overall records.
