Laver Cup chairman Tony Godsick said he hopes Roger Federer will captain at the event one day, but stressed that nothing is certain and gave no timeline. Federer, 44, helped create the tournament and remains involved behind the scenes.
Godsick said Federer has at times said he could not captain for 10 years, citing his four children and a lot going on.
At this year’s London event, Yannick Noah is captaining Team Europe and Andre Agassi Team World. Godsick said Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe could return as captains or vice captains, with no rule preventing a former captain from serving again.
