Washington Commanders coach Dan Quinn said Jayden Daniels is week-to-week, will not undergo surgery now or go on injured reserve; a future operation remains undecided. The team also named quarterback Marcus Mariota its sixth season-long captain.
Fourteen players were listed Wednesday as limited or not participating. Daniels and Nick Cross are ruled out for Sunday's home opener against Seattle. Quinn said Sam Cosmi (concussion), Frankie Luvu (groin) and Chig Okonkwo (hamstring) were unlikely to play; Luvu and Okonkwo would miss a second game, while Cosmi would miss his first this season.
Quinn said the Commanders' 0-2 record did not factor into the decision against surgery. The team has not decided whether Daniels will travel to London for Week 4. Mariota was named captain after the other five season-long captains supported the choice.
