Kroger is testing 24-hour service at six stores—one in Cincinnati and five in Indiana—as a small pilot. The company says the effort is part of its search for more ways to give customers fast, convenient shopping options.
Kroger ended 24-hour operations in March 2020 during the coronavirus outbreak to give workers more time and space to clean and restock stores. Most locations now open at 6 a.m. and close at 10 or 11 p.m., depending on the store.
Kroger’s identical sales, excluding fuel, rose 0.2% year over year in the second quarter of 2026. Numerator reported that more than $12 billion in consumer packaged-goods spending shifted from Kroger to Walmart, Costco and Amazon over the past year.
