Everton Women made it three wins from three by beating Birmingham City 2-0 in their Subway Players Cup opener. Zara Kramzar and Yuka Momiki scored; captain Megan Finnigan made her first competitive start since suffering an ACL injury more than 600 days ago.
Momiki set up Kramzar’s opener with a clipped pass over Birmingham’s defence, then scored ten minutes after the restart. Issy Hobson went off injured within five minutes after a collision and was replaced by Hannah Blundell.
Everton’s next match is the Merseyside derby at Anfield on Sunday at 12 p.m. BST (7 a.m. ET, 4 a.m. PT). The team will be looking for a fourth consecutive win at the home of its city rivals.
