Booker worked with Republican Kentucky lawmakers on Kevin’s Law, which lets pharmacists dispense an emergency supply of certain life-saving medicines when a prescription has expired or run out and the prescriber cannot be reached. His opponent, Andy Barr, voted for the 2025 Big Beautiful Bill Act; the Congressional Budget Office estimates its Medicaid changes will increase the number of uninsured by 7.5 million by 2034.
The column cites a poll of 600 likely Kentucky voters that initially showed Barr nine points ahead. After voters were given information about both candidates, the race was tied at 43%.
