Rove says he’ll vote for a Democrat in the midterms, ending 30 years of backing Republicans. The Texas Tribune reported he plans to vote for Democrat Jon Rosenthal over Republican Bo French in the Texas Railroad Commissioner race; he criticized the GOP’s far-right ties.

Rove called French a “bigot” after French posted several xenophobic social-media posts aimed at students of color celebrating a college football game. Rove also said right-wing podcaster Nick Fuentes met with Republican leaders in Dallas and called Fuentes “a Nazi.”

On the Texas Senate race, Rove said the contest would be “over” if Republican John Cornyn were the nominee. Cornyn lost the primary to Ken Paxton after President Donald Trump endorsed Paxton. Rove said Paxton had multiple girlfriends and cited $200,000 in home improvements from a businessman he called corrupt, saying Paxton did favors for him. Rove did not say whether he would vote for Paxton.
