Julia Stiles says “Dancing with the Stars” is helping her rebuild confidence in performing after years of staying private and keeping away from the spotlight. She and partner Ezra Sosa scored 16 out of 30 for their tango on the show’s Sept. 22 “Viral Hits Night.”
Stiles said her relationship with fame was complicated: after her breakout role in “10 Things I Hate About You” at 17, she felt intoxicated by fame but also frightened and withdrew from public attention. She described the show as a chance to reconnect with performing and being watched.
Stiles said the show had invited her in previous years, but fear kept her from accepting; this year, the timing felt right. She and Sosa are scheduled to perform next week on “Yacht Rock Classics Night.”
