Juan Miguel Angel, 33, of Tampa, was arrested after allegedly sending explicit texts and videos to someone he believed was a 13- to 14-year-old girl; the recipient was an undercover Homeland Security agent, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.
Angel faces five charges: four counts of attempted transfer of obscene material to a minor and one count of attempted enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity. The article says conviction for attempted enticement carries 10 years to life in prison; a conviction for transferring obscene material could bring up to 10 years.
The sting was part of the Justice Department’s Project Safe Childhood, launched in 2006. The DOJ said a 2025 nationwide operation led to 293 arrests, including 10 in Florida. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children reported a 158% increase in online-enticement reports from the prior year.
