The Toronto Blue Jays scored four runs in the seventh to beat the Cincinnati Reds 6-5 on Friday, with Kazuma Okamoto driving in three runs on two doubles. Manager John Schneider praised the rookie afterward, saying, “He’s been fantastic.”
Toronto had already been eliminated from postseason contention. Okamoto, 30, signed a four-year, $60 million deal with the Blue Jays over the offseason; through 154 games, he had a .234/.310/.456 line with 33 home runs and 92 RBIs.
