JerryRigEverything’s bend test showed the iPhone Air flexing and returning to shape before it snapped under 215–216 pounds (97–98 kg) of applied force. The phone still worked afterward, and its battery remained intact.
The tester pushed on the phone from the front and back, then used tools to apply greater force. JerryRigEverything said accidentally sitting on the phone is less likely to permanently bend it because a person’s weight spreads across its surface, unlike force concentrated at one point in the test. An iFixit teardown suggests the titanium frame and internal layout contribute to the phone’s flexibility and structural integrity.
The video also tested the display: Ceramic Shield 2 showed no scratches at Mohs level 6, while scratches at level 7 were barely visible, according to the article.
