macOS 27 Golden Gate offers eight useful features: adjustable Liquid Glass, Safari AI tab grouping, filename suggestions, AI-created extensions and Shortcuts, Siri help with screen content, background-app controls and screen recording with system audio.
Liquid Glass can be adjusted at System Settings > Appearance. Safari’s tab controls are under Safari > Settings > Tabs: Automatically Create Topics groups related tabs automatically, while Show Related Tabs recommends tabs for users to group. Finder’s Suggest file names setting is under Finder > Settings > General; the author says it worked for most files tested.
The Safari URL-bar menu has Describe Extension; extensions cannot access Mac data or load remote content. In Shortcuts, click + to describe an automation for Apple Intelligence to create. With Siri AI enabled, Command–Shift–Space opens a prompt to select a window; Command–Shift–6 selects part of the screen. Control-click an app’s Dock icon and choose Stop running in background, or toggle Background App Activity under System Settings > General > Login Items and Extensions; leave it on for Google Drive and Dropbox. For screen recording, use Command–Shift–5 > Options > Include System Audio; Apple TV and some apps may block it.
