Google announced Sept. 23 that anyone with a Google account can make AI videos for free in its Vids editor, powered by Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash. It advertises 1080p output, but Decrypt’s test produced only 720p clips.
Free-generation allowances vary: personal accounts get a standard quota, paid Google AI plans get more, and Workspace Business and Enterprise accounts receive larger pools and team admin controls. Vids also adds clip extension, exact scene-duration settings and upscaling of existing lower-resolution AI clips to 1080p. Generated videos carry an invisible, machine-readable SynthID watermark, which Google’s separate Detector can check.
