Jennifer Prudencio received 4–6 years in prison and three years’ probation after pleading guilty to manslaughter and three counts of reckless endangerment in her 3-year-old son Yael’s 2024 death. Prosecutors said she left the vomiting, pale toddler with siblings aged 7 and 8.
Prosecutors said Prudencio went to a bar, drank for hours and then stayed overnight at her boyfriend’s home. Her 8-year-old texted that he was worried about Yael and sent a video; Prudencio replied she would be home soon but returned at about 10 a.m., when the child was dead.
Prosecutors said that in the week before his death, Yael, who had a history of hemophilia, fell during a seizure, had a facial wound that was not healing properly and vomited blood. They also said Prudencio sought medical care for him twice that week.
